Baby Beluga

Anyone know this guy?
On Wednesday I got in the car to drive to work and this CD was playing. I was singing along before I realized Kynley was not in the car with me and I did not have to listen to this CD. Fast forward to the next day. I get in our other car to go to work same CD, same song, still singing along subconsciously. This was one of my favorites when I was little. Nana passing on the tradition started singing it to Kynley when she was little...very little. Now Kyn has the CD and book and every time we get in the car she says Baby Baby and that's our cue to play the song. It's like the movie Life As We Know It, where they are in the car with a similar cd playing and the two friends are sandwiched in the back with the car seat between them. The parents and baby are singing along and the friends looking miserable. I am pretty sure this is an exact scene from our car only our music is Baby Beluga...we might have an obsession at our house.

Look who turned one!

Our baby is one, a great year it's been! We are so thankful for her in our family. She constantly makes us laugh and keeps us on the move! Happy Birthday baby girl!
We celebrated with a little birthday party- the favorite gift I think was the baby stroller and babies (thanks Grandma and Nana). She pretty much gave up opening any other gifts after those!  She wasn't so sure about the cake but liked the frosting for awhile, but once again was too distracted by the baby stroller!
Can you see the excitement when she realizes it's a stroller?!

11 months and counting!

Always has her tongue out or making sounds with it

So observant

And of course the "cheeseball" smile as we call it..  Can't believe she'll be one in less than a month!

Way back in September we had a ten month old

Still as happy as ever!

Get ready for Halloween the Monsters are coming out!

A story about chocolate!

Once upon a time a little girl and her mom were on their way home.  The sweet, tired little girl fell asleep in the car.  Upon arriving home the mom put a plate of delicious brownies on the legs of the sweet, sleeping girl and carried the little girl, asleep in her car seat into their house.  The mom set the sleeping girl in her car seat down when suddenly the mom and dad heard a noise that sounded like smacking lips. They lifted up the car seat cover and discovered this...

A sweet girl, no longer sleeping, eating the delicious chocolate brownies with a huge smile!

Stitches

With tricks like this is it any wonder that this happened?

Kynley bug was playing at Grandma Susie's end table and went to sit down, except on the way down she bumped her eyebrow and split it right open.  Seven stitches later!
.

35 days and 34 nights...

We took a long trip to Michigan this summer to spend it with my parents. While we were there we visited; Detroit, Mackinaw Island, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Kirtland, Nauvoo, Indiana and Grandma and Grandpa Layman in Nebraska. Jake’s mom joined us for the last week of our trip and drove home with us! We had such a fun time and it was great to have a long vacation. Kynley was loving more space at Grandma and Grandpa’s and especially Penny, the dog. We enjoyed Saturday night movies at the park, walking on the trails, the lakes and farmers markets.  Kynley even survived her first plane ride and took her first steps while we were there!  So here we go, a whole month in review…

Hanging out in the car seat! She had lots of company back there though!

Helping Grandma make pizza...or just trying to eat what she was putting on the pizza!

4th of July...Kynley's first one! We had a BBQ at a friends house, walked around the little fair and watched fireworks!

Kyn Kyn clapping for fireworks!

Getting ready to go to the pool!

We did a photo shoot with Kynley from an idea we saw online and it just happened the red sky lantern blew into my parents yard one night so we could make a fun little scene.

All of us in Kirtland. It was Jake and Kynley's first time.

Jake's cousin Rachel is serving her mission in Kirtland. She was at the Johnson farm and gave us an amazing tour. She even had a little bit of time to visit with us and was able to meet Kynley since she left on her mission right before Kynley was born. We were so excited we got to see her, we are glad she is serving a mission but miss having her here in Utah with us.

What our summer has looked like so far...

Kynley drinking out of the hose. She loves water and will always want to drink out of your cup (or hose)!

Swimming has been one of Kynley's favorite activities so far this summer,  she will play in the pool for a good hour and of course tries to drink the water. She is so brave and will just put her face in.  We also enjoyed a visit from Aunt Melissa for a couple of days which was a lot of fun!

Exploring new places has been exciting.

We've been doing some projects around the apartment and Kynley has been a good helper to her dad.

Our favorite summer treat at the Summer Snow Shack!

Orem Summer Fest with cousin Emma and Jordan and Aunt Jess! (I guess Jordan was on a ride when we took this picture!)
We have enjoyed hanging out with friends!

Swinging makes Kynley giggle and it also makes her sleepy!
We have been doing some home sewing  projects and sewing projects with friends!

Kynley and I have been having lots of fun hanging out and going to the park. It is so fun to not have to work this summer (or any summer!) and I have enjoyed being a stay at home mom for the time being.

And this new face of the summer?? We are not sure what exactly this means sometimes it is a frustrated face, sometimes a mad face, sometimes she just makes the face but I can't help but laugh every time she makes it! We sure have had a fun time so far. A lot of relaxing and walks and projects. We can't wait for July and are loving the time we have been able to spend as a family!

6 months old! May 15, 2011

Kynley!
I can't believe our Kynley bug is 6 months old. She is one very very busy baby, but such a good one!  She has many favorite things these days. She loves to laugh, wave hi and bye, crawl everywhere, give kisses, talk to you, be outside, stroller rides, play with her shadow. She spends most of her days smiling and wiggling.  We love her so much and love that she is so happy and content!
